Steve Barber, Chair of BACIT writes:
Yesterday National Opinion Polls published the results of
a survey conducted last August along the Beeston and
Chilwell tram corridors. The full report is here
[Word Document] and a summary is here
[Word Document]. The report shows 55% of people approved of
the NET proposal with 30% against. Interestingly 78%
believed the tram to be a safe form of transport but 40%
still believed the BCBRA
misinformation about the trams not going through to the
centre of Nottingham. 75% want to see compensation for the
Chilwell Road traders.
We Say This gives a clear public mandate to NET to get
on and build the tram. However a clear majority do want
compensation for the Chilwell Road traders. They should now
replace their "£130m and not needed" posters with ones which
say "Compensation please…we want to continue serving you".
Their customers are not supporting their current campaign.
BACIT will continue to fight for a first class system, that
includes extra stops and a fair deal for
all.

Chilwell & Beeston Are Pro-Tram.
Offical! |

The myth that no one wants the tram
has been firmly killed by a new opinion poll conducted by NOP.
A thousand randomly selected people, along the route in
Beeston and Chilwell, were asked if they approved of the route
and the majority did. Read the full
details on the NET
site. |

Supertram Looking To Expand |
| November

|
The Sheffield SuperTram is looking to
expand its system. The some details can be found are here. What is
interesting about this is that BCBRA
have spent a great deal of time making out that the Sheffield
trams are 'noisy'. Obviously they aren't noisy enough to
prevent the locals wanting more of them. |

Ask NET - The Reply |

You may remember that in August
we gave you a chance to send in questions which we would put
to NET.
It all took a bit longer than expected due to problems at this
end and NET responded quickly once they got the questions. So
here
it is. It covers a lot of ground from noise to breakdowns
and safety to public enquiries. Well worth a read. |
